Trained in ballet with Dance Theatre of Harlem and modern at SUNY Purchase; Esaias was a soloist with Kevin Wynn Collection for 10 years. In the 1980’s she began mixing her Ballet, Modern and Hip Hop training together to create what she dubbed PoMoFunk. She taught the technique at Florida Dance Festivals, Munich, Paris, Montpelier, Gruyere, and New York. In 1996 she formed Dance Esaias choreographing 25 works with original music by award winning composer, Barb Morrison. Her choreography was included into the New York Library for the Performing Arts. Forerunner is a work in progress film trilogy based on her Courage and Resistance Project: A daily drawing of Black Power.
